Remember Jaxon Riddle's 40 Ft Drop To Flat?

We may never grasp the true scale of Red Bull Rampge

The Insane 40-Foot Drop That Proves Red Bull Rampage Is on Another Level

Red Bull Rampage is one of the most extreme events in sports. Massive drops, razor-thin ridgelines, and near-vertical descents make it the ultimate test of freeride mountain biking. But if you’ve ever watched the event, you might not fully grasp just how massive these features really are—because the pros make it look easy.

To put it into perspective, Jaxon Riddle and Nicholi Rogatkin teamed up with Red Bull to recreate a Rampage-sized drop in an urban setting. Their goal? Show just how insane these jumps really are.

The 40-Foot Urban Drop

For the stunt, Jaxon Riddle was harnessed to the side of a four-story building at an 85-degree angle—basically clinging to a vertical wall. While Rampage drops can reach up to 70 feet, this one was around 40 feet, which, in Jaxon’s mind, wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.

But there was one big difference: the landing.

At Rampage, riders have hundreds of feet to touch down and scrub speed. Overjumping by 10 feet doesn’t really matter when you have that kind of margin. But in the middle of a city, there’s no room for error.

Jaxon miscalculated his speed and landed completely to flat, destroying his bike on impact. The video was absolutely insane.

The Aftermath

Somehow, Jaxon walked away unscathed. The same couldn’t be said for his bike. The sheer force of the landing was enough to obliterate it, proving just how much precision and engineering goes into the massive jumps at Rampage.

This experiment highlights an important point: no matter how easy the pros make it look, Red Bull Rampage is on an entirely different scale.

And unless you’ve stood at the top of one of those cliffs yourself, you may never truly understand just how massive it really is.
